The takeaway is that we’re making this Valentine’s Day about you and not about our old man Cupid anymore. We all know that commercialism has designed this day to be all about the traditional view of love. Two people, dinner dates, flowers and presents.
Sure, it’s great to celebrate with your boo-thang, buy the sexy fit and throw a little whipped cream around but we think you should be doing this weather your single or boo’d up!
At the core, Valentine’s day is about love, right? Well that includes self-love. Let’s explore 5 easy ways to make this VDAY V-romantic


START AND END WITH YOU
It’s easy for us to go days, heck let’s be honest months and even years without allowing a moment of self recognition. We are really good at focusing on all the things in a day we haven’t accomplished but what about everything you have done?
Set out to start your day with one reflection of gratitude towards yourself of what you DID do. At night, close off your day with doing something small for yourself. Like taking an extra 10 minutes to make yourself a cup of tea instead of skipping it because you’re choosing to fold laundry instead. You can still be an organization queen but the things is… laundry will still be there GF.
These moments for yourself slip away faster than your socks disappear from the washing machine. Catch what we’re throwing down?
TAKE THE LEAD OR BE LED
We love to dance! Who doesn’t?
But what we’re really trying to drive home here is that you can be the person who leads the day or allows yourself to be led.
Maybe in your day to day you are constantly being told what to do or how to do it and on VDAY you want to be the saucy director of the show! So go for it! Make the brunch plans for your Galentine’s. Find a spa for a massage or simply be the chef in the kitchen. There are so many ways you can be the one guiding the day through the dance floor
On the flip side! You could also ALWAYSS be the lead in your daily dance and today you want to take a load off. So let go of the wheel and have your BFF plan where your dinner date will be held or find the local concert you will go to. After all, she is your BFF she should know your taste in just about everything.

WE LOVE THERAPY… Aromatherapy or Massage Therapy
Doesn’t everybody? Massage therapy is a great way to allow your mind and body to release the tensions of the day, week or months. It is a naturally occurring response for us to physically carry our stressors. Stress = cortisol. Cortisol = inflammation. When inflammation builds up in our body we are more prone to a lowered immune system, physical strain and mental irritability. Massage therapy is a great way to release all that.
Now some of you may be saying, “Well now, massage therapy can be just too darn expensive.” I understand. But we’re not sitting here getting 3 massages a month and if 1 per month is still too high of a threshold then allowing yourself some R & R every now and then is more than fair to be able to bring peace to your nervous system.
Not into massage therapy overall? That’s cool. We still think aromatherapy can play equally into your routine to help minimize stressors. It’s easy! Place a few drops on your wrists, lower neck, or on a particular pressure point and let the oils do their magic. Or! You can create a customized scent my mixing a few oils together in a diffuser while you read some evening tales.
DINE, DANCE, DECOMPRESS
Everybody has their own outlet of release. If you like a social setting to whisk away the long week then set up a reservation for your favorite local dinner spot. Or are you the girlie who needs to “Shake, Shake it off ah Shake it aww aww offffff!” Then send the bat signal out to the squad and get to steppin’. That rug isn’t going to cut itself.
Maybe neither of these ring a bell and you need to stage a cozy night in for yourself. Order take out from your favorite place, take a bath, throw the diffuser on and end the night with a great show or movie binge.
MAKE IT LAST
Whatever it is you decide to do on this Valentine’s Day take your time with it! We are always in such a rush to get to the finish line, and why? Isn’t the point of what we’re doing at any given moment supposed to be to savor it? Be mindful of yourself as you go through your day and if you catch yourself trying to rush towards the next thing take a pause. Quiet literally stop what you’re doing and take a deep breath to reset your intention of the day.
